Thanks again to everyone who made it out to the Tivoli over the last three weekends. (I know for a fact that many people were there more than once during this run!) Fun people in weird costumes are just part of what keeps us doing this year after year. We thank you for your support and hope to see you real soon. Also many thank yous to Alan and the entire staff at the Tivoli for being such gracious and accomodating hosts. Holy shit! How could I have forgotten!
My UMSL project on the St. Chux Derby Chix is finally available in book form. I plan to make an online version of it here, but have a few different irons in the fire right now. Check out this latest archive addition! I am running a new script on all subsequent archives which allows for a slideshow to run automatically when you click on an image. You, the user, also have the option of arrow keying through the slideshow at your will or pausing it altogether. Looks pretty nice.
Still having hosting space issues, so a lot of older archives are temporarily purged. I just burnt my knuckles on the oven. Ouuuuuuch.

Long time no update. Been working with more film lately. All around just haven't been shooting much. Kinda depressing actually.
I've been battling was has been said to be a ruptured disc in my back. I've been walking with a limp for the past three weeks because this disc is irritating my sciatic nerve. I'm not happy about this and have been kinda depressed. I've never been this injured for this long of a time and I'm not taking it well.

Well, opening weekend was a smash success for the Samurai Electricians as we began our 2010 run of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Our streak is still alive, having sold out both of our opening weekend shows. (The insider information is that next weekend is just about sold out already.) It was great fun and now I have a Sunday off to bum around, watch Netflix, process and post. I also have some film to develop eventually, and you'll see that here as well. I found out two hours before the show that MUTE was playing! My excitement about the show rose ten points to 110 points. MUTE is a ridiculously talented tech-punk band from Quebec. Check them the hell out NOW! The rest of the show was absolutely kick ass. I don't think you can expect anything less from bands like Rufio and Strung Out. I had an absolute blast, and DEFINITELY got some portfolio worhty shots out the show.
Going to see The Toadies tonight. I am not lucky enough to be afforded a press pass to photograph that show. Ah well. That just means I can drink more.

I'm also doing a couple of aesthetic and functional changes to the site. You'll notice the square, symmetrical thumbnails on some of the new pages. I'm also tweeking a new script that will allow a viewer to click to the next photo in line, rather than x'ing out and clicking on a new one. Stay tuned for some unexciting stuff.

I never really liked Flickr. Still don't. But since my dad is now posting on Flickr I thought it might be fun to keep up with his work. So I erased my old Flickr and started a new one. I'm currently uploading some of my stuff there now. Most of it is just what you've found on my portfolio here on my site. But yeah. If you'd like to be my friend, be my guest. 2009-11-07 - Rocky Horror Picture Show @ The Tivoli
The Samurai Electricians sold out all four shows, and it was one of the best runs we've had! Thanks to every single person who came out to the Tivoli over the last two weeks. You are the reason we keep watching such a horrible movie. There were so many people this year that we might be able to justify more frequent performances or more shows next Halloween. Also thanks to Dale and the entire staff at the Tivoli for their charm, their hospitality ("Horse Brutality?!?"), and for letting us and our/your guests trash such a magnificant St. Louis landmark. We truely enjoy every minute we get to take over your building.
I have a BUNCH of film to develop, scan and post. Stay tuned for archive updates in the next few days. I'm eager to process it, as I'm sure I have some negatives that will keep me working in the darkroom diligently this week.
Oh, and lastly, check out The Dave's art on my stomach...
I still have welts on my stomach. No, seriously.

I photographed almost the whole show with a bad Speedlite. Turns out one of the contacts is kind of going bad. The flash would fire but the camera wasn't syncing with it. Laaaaaame sandwich. Fortunately I came prepared. However my AE-1P that I've been using lately is on the fritz as well. So is another lens of mine. Hmmmmm. It sucks being poor.

My apologies to Model Citizen for taking so long to get the August 14 archive up. I was waiting to develop the partial roll of black and white I shot of you, partly because at the time I did not have fresh D76 and partly because I wanted to get another roll shot so I could kill two birds with one stone.
I'm FINALLY going to see Inglorious Basterds tonight. Wooooo!! And also just made plans to see the midnight showing of Pulp Fiction down at the Tivoli on September 12. Rad.

My site is damn near completed. Apparently this is where I'm going to let people know how my life is and such. You know, same old shit like I hate my job at Walgreen's, and you the viewer needs to schedule some shoot time with me so we can both expand our portfolios and essentially save us both from the monotony of our lives. Or maybe something cheerier.
This week I'm shooting a proposed SG set. We'll see how that turns out.
In this spot I will also put my latest additions on the site, such as new dates in the archive and such.
